Shadow of the Colossus is an adventure game special: its interior there are no towns or dungeons to explore, no people to talk to or interact with, there are enemies to be overcome as a part of the giants referenced in the title. The earth which moves is vast and almost lifeless (although it is possible to find small animals such as lizards, turtles, tortoises, doves, hawks, or shrubs, and plants), the majority of the scenario is empty, and the masters of the scene are the huge, lush meadows, arid grasslands, mountains and chasms. The protagonist, Wander spends most of his time galloping with his noble steed, Agro, to get to the point where there is a new colossus. Because of these factors, and of the language and imagery used within the play the atmosphere of the game is to think heavily to the ICO, in spite of the experience of the game of the two titles is very different. The game begins without revealing much of the story that we face and just as little is revealed once the credits are finished. As he himself states Fumito Ueda: Shadow of The Colossus is the predecessor of ICO. The protagonist (Wander), the goal is to save a girl (Mono), but no other information neither about him nor about the girl, except the fact that this is dead because of his accursed fate; nevertheless, the mode with which Mono has found the death, and has been sacrificed are not explained. The giants named in the title are monstrous creatures, dreadnoughts and seemingly invincible. Nevertheless, they have weak points well hidden that it may allow to Wander to defeat them if exploited properly. Each colossus has a different anatomy: they can represent that is the giant humanoid as well as enormous versions of animals. Wander is armed with a bow and arrows, a sword, and is joined by his faithful steed Agro. Due to the fact that his arsenal is limited, and that the interaction with the scenario is necessary to be able to defeat the colossi. Shadow of the Colossus is considered both a dynamic adventure in 3D is a puzzle game.
